Paluang Cliff is another amazing viewpoint and temple that is just a 5 minute drive from the famous Kelingking Cliff in Nusa Penida island.
Both Paluang and Kelingking cliffs show you the same thing, but with different angles and scenery.
It’s an amazing spot. This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!
Where To Stay In Nusa Penida
Paluang Cliff Viewpoint
As you walk up to the edge of Paluang Cliff, you’re hit with this awesome view of a green arm extending out into the ocean.
From the Paluang overlook you can see the other side of Kelingking cliff, along with the little green island sitting next to it, and Embon Beach at the bottom of the huge cliff wall.
There’s a neat little wooden “boat” you can sit in for free and take photos, and a wooden platform where you can pay a small fee to climb up and take pictures from above.
All in all, it’s a very underrated viewpoint, and I love it.
Second Viewpoint
To the south, just 50 meters from the first viewpoint, there’s a second overlook where you can get some more epic views.
This spot is especially good if you have a drone.
Pura Paluang Temple
Also known as the ‘car temple’, Pura Paluang is a quirky shrine just a 2 minute walk southeast from the parking lot for Paluang Cliff.
Check it out while you’re nearby!
Entrance Fees
As of 2024, there’s an entry fee of 30k Rupiah (~$2 USD) at the viewpoint.
How To Get To Paluang Cliff
Paluang Cliff is on the west side of Nusa Penida island.
It’s accessible by car or scooter, and takes about a 1 hour drive to reach from the main docks and accommodation in northern Penida.
Be careful if you go by scooter because the road can be pretty rough and may be dangerous in some spots if you don’t take it slow!

Nusa Penida Private Driver
If you want to explore Nusa Penida in the comfort and safety of a van with a driver, my top recommendation would be GetYourGuide.
They offer a full day of driving and sightseeing in Penida (up to 8 hours) for 1-5 passengers. This tour includes the whole van + driver + petrol.
We've used GetYourGuide for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they're great! Highly recommended.

Where We Stayed
We stayed at Saren Villa on the north coast of Nusa Penida, and paid 240k Rupiah ($15 USD) for a private double room with cold A/C, hot shower, and good WiFi.
This is one of the cheapest options in Penida, and it's in a great location near the best restaurants! We were happy.
Prices may fluctuate from time to time, so just keep an eye out for a good deal.
