Pura Segara Ulun Danu Batur: Lake Temple In Kintamani, Bali
Pura Segara Ulun Danu Batur is a neat floating temple on Lake Batur, near Pura Jati in northeast Bali, Indonesia.
It’s a good picture spot by the lake with no crowds and almost no entrance fee. This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!
Pura Segara Temple
The Indonesian name of the temple (Pura Segara Ulun Danu Batur) means ‘water temple on Batur lake’.
Pura Segara sits on the edge of Lake Batur, near another temple called Pura Jati, and it has epic views of the mountains in the background.
This one has some similarities to the famous Lake Bratan temple in Bedugul, but with no crowds. We were the only tourists when we visited.
You can cross the bridge and walk around inside the temple too.
There’s a 10k IDR entrance fee as of 2020.
They don’t always have someone around to collect it, so you may get lucky and be able to enter free.
How To Get To Pura Segara Ulun Danu Batur
The Pura Segara temple is located in the Kintamani highlands, in northeast Bali.
It’s a 1 to 2 hour drive from touristy places like Ubud, Sanur, Canggu and Kuta in south Bali.
Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
If you want to explore Bali in the comfort and safety of a private car with a driver, my top recommendation would be Klook.
Their price is 450k IDR ($30 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. That's the total price for the whole car + driver + petrol! It's a steal.
If you'd rather travel by motorbike, they have that too. Their scooter rentals start at 85k IDR (~$6) and include a helmet, rain coat, and pickup in the south Bali area.
We've used Klook for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they're great! Highly recommended.
